Privacy Policy

Intake (“Intake: Supplement Tracker”, “we”, “us”) is built around a private, local-first experience: the supplements you track live on your device, and you don’t hand over your identity to use the app. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and the choices you have.

Our approach in short

  • Local-first. Your stack, daily logs, reminders and wishlist are stored on your device and aren’t tied to your real-world identity.
  • No sign-up required. The app works with an anonymous device account — no name, email or password needed.
  • Cloud only where it adds value. Some features (the AI guide, stack analysis and photo label scanning) need our backend and Google Gemini to work. We only send what those features require.
  • We don’t sell your data. We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Information we collect

Supplement and health data you create. The supplements in your stack, doses, timing, the reasons you take them, your goals, wishlist and daily “taken” logs. This is stored locally on your device to power tracking, reminders and your daily plan.

Account identifiers. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account for you: a random, server-generated account ID and a secure token stored in your device’s keychain. This account isn’t linked to your name or email — the app doesn’t ask you to sign up or set a password. We also record your device’s preferred language and your selected health goals against this anonymous account, so we can localise content and tailor guidance.

AI feature content. When you use a feature powered by artificial intelligence, the relevant content is sent to our backend and to Google Gemini to generate a response:

  • Guide chat: the messages you send and the names of the supplements in your stack, so answers reflect what you take. Conversations are stored so you can revisit your chat history.
  • Stack analysis: the supplements in your stack and your goals, to generate synergies, timing and gap suggestions.
  • Photo label scanning: the photo of the supplement label you capture or choose. It’s used to read the product details, and a copy is stored on our servers linked to your anonymous account, so it can become that supplement’s photo and keep a record of the scan.
  • Supplement search assist: the product name you ask us to identify.

Subscription status. Intake Pro subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat together with the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive your subscription/entitlement status linked to your anonymous account ID. We never receive or store your full payment card details; those stay with Apple or Google.

Analytics and diagnostics. We use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. This includes in-app events (for example, opening a screen, adding a supplement, sending a guide message), general device and app information, a small set of user properties (such as your selected theme or stack size), and crash reports. These are associated with your anonymous account ID, not your name.

How we use your information

  • Provide the core app: track your stack, plan your day and send reminders.
  • Generate AI guidance, stack analysis and label extraction when you request them.
  • Deliver and restore your Intake Pro subscription and enforce free-tier limits.
  • Diagnose crashes, understand usage trends and improve the app.
  • Protect against abuse of our systems (for example, rate-limiting AI requests).
  • Respond to your feedback and support requests.

Artificial intelligence

Our guide chat, stack analysis and photo scanning are powered by AI (Google Gemini) acting as our processor. Content you submit to these features is transmitted to Google to generate a response and is handled under Google’s applicable data-processing terms. AI output is generated automatically, is for general education only, and can be incomplete or wrong; see the “Not medical advice” note below.

Camera and photos

If you scan a supplement label, the app asks for camera or photo- library permission and uses the image to read the product details. The image is sent to our backend and to Google Gemini to read the label, and a copy is stored in our cloud storage linked to your anonymous account — it becomes that supplement’s photo and is kept, with a record of the scan, until you delete the supplement or ask us to remove it. You can decline the permission and add supplements by search or manual entry instead.

Reminders and notifications

Reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device and require notification permission. You can turn reminders on or off in the app and revoke notification permission in your device settings at any time.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Intake, and share only what each needs:

  • Google Firebase: analytics and crash reporting.
  • Google Gemini: AI guide, stack analysis and label reading.
  • RevenueCat: subscription management.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play: billing and payments.
  • Our hosting and storage providers: to operate the backend that serves AI features and any optional sync.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and our service. We do not sell your personal information.

Storage, security and retention

On-device data stays on your device unless a feature explicitly sends it to our backend. Account tokens are held in your device’s secure keychain, and traffic to our backend is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

On-device data is retained until you uninstall the app, which removes it from your device. Guide conversations, stack analyses and scanned label photos kept on our backend are retained until you delete them (or the related supplement) or ask us to remove them. Analytics and crash data are retained according to Google Firebase’s retention settings. Subscription records are retained as needed for billing and legal purposes.

Your choices and rights

  • Remove on-device data. Uninstalling the app removes your stack, logs, reminders, wishlist and profile from your device.
  • Delete conversations. Delete individual guide conversations from your chat history.
  • Permissions. Control camera and notification access in your device settings.
  • Analytics. You can use your device’s tracking controls, and you may contact us to request that we disable analytics for your account.
  • Access and erasure. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you. Contact us to make a request.
  • Subscriptions. Manage or cancel Intake Pro through your App Store or Google Play account.

Children

Intake is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under the age required to consent to online services where they live (at least 13, or higher where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Not medical advice

Intake is for general education and is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always speak to a healthcare professional before starting supplements, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or have persistent or serious symptoms.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app.
